Hello all.

An update to my original post:

I am a complete Linux newbie, but managed to installed Debian 4 on a
virtual machine to try and modify the bootdisk with a new network card
driver.

I have figured out how to mount the windows share which holds my
bootdisk directory and files within.

My problem is now this:

When I run "make iso" or "make images" to try and create either floppy
image or iso, I get the following error:

version=`../linuxboot/tools/version.pl` &&      \

        echo -e "SET VERSION=$version\r" > template/version.bat.tmp
Setuid/gid script is writable by world.

make: *** [template/version.bat] Error 25

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have checked permissions which seem
to be fine.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Subject: [Unattended] Unable to boot from Dell 1955

Hi all,

This is my first post on this list, so bear with me if I'm not providing
the right info, etc.

We have a Citrix server farm consisting of Dell Poweredge 1855 blades.

We use Unattended 4.6 to build the 1855 blades, utilizing the dos boot
cd --> works great.

However, Dell has now discontinued the 1855, and replaced with 1955.
These new servers have a new network card --> Broadcom Netxtreme II.

The dos boot cd does not recognize this new NIC.

I've downloaded and tried Unattended 4.7 bootdisk (dos) and same thing.
I also tried the linuxboot cd from 4.7 and it was able to see the NIC
and load the driver, but fails, as follows:

- The first failures come up prior to Windows setup begins and
are displayed directly after the line that says "By jove, I think we've
got it!"

o Smb_proc_readX_data: offset is larger than SMB_READX_MAX_PAD or
negative!

o        Smb_proc_readX_data: -59 > 64 || -59 < 0

- The script continues on and steps thru what startup scripts
I'd like, etc, then starts Windows setup, then fails with the same
errors above and this additional error:

o        Smb_add_request: request [f6ef6ec8, mid=3817] timed out!

o These errors come up while Windows is verifying different files
(ntfs.sys, ksecdd.sys, etc)

- These errors continue, if I retry

My preference is to continue to use the dos bootdisk as I'm not familiar
with Linux, but at this point, I'll take either method, if someone can
help.

Thanks for your time,
