But I'm talking about a different script. Not Devanagari.

Hmmm... interesting. There's a structural similarity, then, with what I'm
seeing in Syloti Nagri, but the relevant characters in Syloti Nagri are
clearly consonants, not related to the Sanskrit-derived vocalic liquids.
