It's called "TypeServicesForUnicode", from Apple's text code sample section. There is a compiled OS9 version, that looks the same, but can't detect hit testing horizontally.

I'd like to know if ATSUI can be used for MacOS9. The ATSUI demo for
OSX works perfectly, but the ATSUI demo for OS9, can't do horizontal
hit testing. :o(

What demos and testing are you talking about? There is piles of info on
