Folks on the Unicode mailing list:

I want to submit a Panel Presentation for IUC25 http://www.unicode.org/iuc/iuc25/submit-call.html topic "Let's Add More International Features to Tcl now!!!"

I need 3 panelists for this presentation. Anyone know Tcl want to join me? You can also join us if you can help us to summarize 2.a.i, 2.a.ii, or 2.a.iii below.

If you want to be one of the panelists, please let me which part you want to present, and give me your bio by Nov 10 so I can submit the whole abstract on time..

I will ask for two continuous sessions for this.

Abstract:

Tcl is a famous scripting language use by many people. Tcl is also the basic building block for AOLServerâs ADP technology. Start from Tcl 8.1, Unicode is the default encoding used by Tcl internal. Several Tcl commands also has been modified or added to support international data. However, we still need a lot of locale based command to be build into Tcl in order to support a good internationalized Tcl application. We call this panel discussion in order to find out what should we do next for Tcl internationalization. This panel will be divided into the following tree parts:

  1. Knowing where we are- A review of Unicode support in Tcl 8.4
  2. Knowing where are we heading-
    1. A review of what other similar technologies provided for International support:

                                                               i.      International support in ASP

ii.      International support in Java based server technologies

iii.      International support in Perl CGI

    1. What should be there?- An open brainstorming discussion
  1. How to get there? An open brainstorming discussion.
