I have not seen katakana joined to kanji (or romaji), and suspect that such does not occur.
There are a few cases, e.g. ãé (So-Ren: Soviet Union), but that could also be written as two kanji as èé (which is however very rare in modern Japanese).
I believe, but am not certain, that nonbreaking kanji-to-hiragana is correct, whereas you can break on kanji-to-katakana.
In Japanese you can put a line break between *any* characer, except before punctuation & end quote or after start quote.
