 Read the document, please. Look
 at the bibliography. The Phoenician script has been recognized and
 published about as a separate unique entity in those contexts for a
 very, very long time indeed. That is a different user community from
 students of ancient Semitic languages

Ah, so when you said "Scholars do what they want" I should have interpreted it as "Certain scholars do what they want."

You might have said that "That expectation is of course not acceptable to certain scholars", then.
