I have an objection. I've parsed &dateline in the past, and have used tab(0) to get the seconds at the end of my parsing routine. While I don't mind changing my stuff, I'm probably not the only person in the world who has done this. As for a better fix, without adding another keyword you are bound to break someone. Here is an off the wall suggestion: what if &dateline were a generator, and the second value it returned was either (a) the timezone or (b) the Zulu time? While this could still theoretically break someone, I'm guessing the impact might be lower. Then again, I haven't really thought it through...
