I recall there was some XML code in Unicon, but I never had time to get past 
the learning curve.  It's a package or directory.

I suspect Charles is right about it being base64.  There is probably a RFC 
that'll give a definitive answer.

Another way to parse the xml is with a XLST, there are some command line 
translators for Unix and one for Windows, that should do.  XLST has it;s own 
learning curve though.

This sounds like base 64 encoding - probably inside XML CDATA elements.
  There 
are some base64 decoding routines in the icon program library 
(ipl/procs/base64.icn), so if you could parse the XML and extract the
 base 64 
data, you could get the binary string out.
