that's great that you have such plans! But maybe someone already has something like his "success story".
Java based implemantation I think is more complicated but who knows? An example provided with C++ is very tiny, I agree %-))) But it is just a proof of concept. As I investigated C++ Compiler for Android is not free but Android NDK (which includes GCC) is free. Probably I/O is a big issue but it can be solved with the time. More obstacles may cause different C-libraries used for Icon/Unicon compilation from the sources. We need to try. At the moment I have no knowledge how is difficult this road (Android porting I mean). But it's very interesting.

I am very interested in getting Unicon ported to Android and iOS platforms.
My own efforts for Android will focus on a Java-based solution, because the Android platform is Java-based and most of the devices are not Intel devices.
Whether native or Java-based, the main issue will be I/O. Sure Android is Linux but I predict we will have a fun time getting full classic Icon I/O behavior and porting graphics facilities. Then again, the example in the page you point is at has "hello, world" on it, so how hard can it be?
