I've set my interface language to English but my Ubuntu user account
language is set to Polish. I cannot change the way the date is showing.
The months and weekdays abbreviations are Polish but the arrangement is
in the US way. I think the chooser component could be somehow like the
office suite date format chooser.

Title:
Add support for custom date format on the menu item

Status in Ayatana Design:
  New
Status in The Date and Time Indicator:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
It would be great to have option for customization time/date line via
strftime settings.
For example, standart GNOME Clock applet has gconf key
/apps/panel/applets/clock_screen0/prefs/custom_format ;
and if value of key /apps/panel/applets/clock_screen0/prefs/format set to
"custom", then value of custom_format key proceeding as strftime arguments for
displaying relative time/date information.
I think, such strftime setting should be not only for time (which displays in
the indicator-applet panel), but also for the first line of datetime's main
menu.
