Dear Sande,
It can be hard during the summer to find enough browns. Here's what I do and it works fine. You can shred up paper bags or newspaper. That will provide enough carbon to keep the ratio. If you know a carpenter you can also ask for bags of wood shavings (the untreated kind) They work really well also in keeping down flies.
