Reading Inga Saffron's column in today's Inquirer (Which Spilove will head PA. preservation agency) we find that Fast Eddie has made another "interesting" appointment to his administration.

Wayne Spilove was head of the Philadelphia Historical Commission, but as a developer that did not stop him from buying tables at political fundraising dinners, which served him well when time came to get certain legislation proposed on his behalf for his development of the 1900 block of Sansom.

So what does this mean for Spruce Hill Historic District proponents and opponents? Why, it means that you've got a friend in Harrisburg. (Yes, both sides!)

... Of course the level of your friendship will be determined by how many tables you buy ... (A "table" is normally 10 tickets to a political dinner, where the price per head was historically $100 each, but with inflation and all that is now in the $500 each range.)

Isn't Democracy a wonderful thing?
