The UNI/UCHS folks have declared this Saturday to be Strawberry Festival Day at the Market!

Not only will they will have available for taste-testings and for sale, but will also have bean bag tossing, coloring, ice-cream making, face painting, and Strawberry stringing.  Also available is fair-trade organic coffee from Old City Coffee for $1 a cup or $8 a pound, ground.

In honor of our Strawberry Festival Dan King will have a special on strawberry pies:  $4 each, 2 for $7, and small pies for $1, or buy 5, get 1 free.  Dan also will offer his famous BBQ ribs and chicken.

More goodies in store:

Justin Naylor --homemade pasta, granola, bread, blueberry muffins, spinach, and lettuce

Phil Landis--leg of lamb, complete with recipes, and will once again have eggs so fresh you might have to slap them.   If it is a nice sunny day, he has promised to have a real treat for us:  TA DA, rich homemade Philadelphia vanilla ice cream

The Somerton Farm folk (some combination of Kathy, Andrea, Laurie, Nicole & Steve) will have radishesicicle white (mild, sweet), cheriette (peppery), Easter egg, and D'Avignon.  In addition expect to find broccoli raab, Japanese turnips, Asian greens, and pea shoots.

Organic farmer John King will be back with greens, kale, collards, strawberries, Amish baked goodies, eggs, yogurt, canned pickles & peppers and other specialties from his Lancaster County canners.

Dave of Wilmington's Big Sky Bread will have a variety of fruit and yeast breads for us to try, as well as croissants, cookies and granola

Bob Fahnestock will continue to have asparagus and tomatoes, along with more fresh basil that his son Dave decided to grow this year.
