Hey-- Are you ready for some FOOTBALL? Yea, those Eagles might be on a roll, but
they always find some way to disappoint us. No, I’m talkin’ PENN FOOTBALL! Penn has already clinched their second straight
Ivy League title and were ranked 8th nationally in Division I-AA
before they beat Harvard in Boston last Saturday. This week they face off against ancient
rival Cornell at Franklin Field here in West Philadelphia. The last game of the season. The game starts at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday
(that’s this Saturday, November 22). This is the best entertainment value in
Philadelphia. General Admission
tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids and students. You can get them in advance, but since
the stadium fits 60,000 plus, there should be plenty available at the
gate. No booze is served in the
stadium, which makes it tough for you alcoholics out there but makes it a good
atmosphere to bring kids. It may
be cold, but no matter how cold it is as long as you’re not stupid and dress
properly you can stay warm. This
is Philly, so it may rain. That’s
not an excuse for you wimps out there either, since Franklin Field is a double
deck stadium and you can stay out of the rain. In order to entice you further to seem my
alma mater do battle on the gridiron, please stop over to my house for some
refreshments before the game.
While I do not know everyone on this listserv personally, I am always
happy to meet new neighbors. I
also think that one of the amenities of living in West Philly is that we are in
proximity to some of the events at Penn, be they sports, theater or
whatever. There are people in this
neighborhood who have never been to a game at Franklin Field. I plan to have people over between 1:00
P.M. and 3:00 P.M., which will give you plenty of time to stumble to the game
before the opening kickoff. If you can let me know if you are coming,
that gives me a vague idea of how many to plan for. If you don’t get around to responding, and come on the spur
of the moment, that’s great. If
you cannot make the game, feel free to stop over before hand anyway. Hopefully I will see you on Saturday. Matt Matthew Wolfe 4256 Regent Square 43rd Street between Chester and
