Until it is scientifically proven that homosexuality is not 'a choice,'

you mean there are still people who don't know?  That it is not a choice?  I didn't choose to be heterosexual.  How can someone choose to be homosexual?

Until it is scientifically proven that homosexuality is not 'a choice,' then the issue of gay marriage is not a civil rights issue.

Please Lord. Please Gods. Protect us from the Christian Right, the
Extremes of every religion - Islam, Christianity, Judaism and anybody I
left out who is a fanatic.

Bravo, Gregory, and ditto for me too. I am an out butch living in a
committed relationship and understand well the frustration of not being
"legally" married, when you try to accomplish even the smallest of tasks -
like getting your wife and kids onto your health benefits at work...

And I was especially pleased to see that I am not the only one who
recognizes that this has nothing to do with religion - if a person feels it
is against their religious convictions, so be it. But this country fought
a long hard battle to acheive separation of church and state, and so I also
remind people that when it comes to civil rights - religion can hardly be a
rationale for the vote for or against gay marriage. If one is against it -
please argue it out of the context of any personal religious convictions.

Mr. Zardus et al. . .

As an openly gay man in a committed relationship I was especially offended
by the "what is the world coming to?" alarmist rant that has appeared on
the
list in regard to gay marriage. The gay marriage question is perhaps one
of
the last remaining civil rights issues to be resolved.

While it may be dismissed as merely a "social issue" by some, the fact that
a large segment of the population is prohibited from participating in what
is taken for granted by heterosexuals has a stinging impact on the day to
day lives of thousands of gay couples throughout the country.

While one may be opposed to the concept of gay marriage on religious
grounds
your religion has no place in defining my right to civil marriage.

Gregory
