It is not as clear as you believe. The founding fathers were a bunch of Deists
and Atheists who specifically spurned the Bible. Only 3 of the 10 commandments
are actually embodied in US law (no killing, no stealing, no adultery). And
those of course predate the 10 commandments, stretching back into ancient
egyptian law and probably further. Hell, one can easily see the basis for all
three in the behavior of chimps!
