How could anyone disagree with what you say, Wilma? It is all
documented. And terribly saddening. To live through the experience of
building Hussein, then demonizing him over a period of 20 years is to
get a small taste of Soviet propaganda. Yes, we were always different
countries, but the propaganda machines were damned similar. As was the
spying.

I quite agree that the Democrats should not go there except for the fact
that:

A) WMD were certainly there in Iraq as George W. said because Reagan and
Bush (the Elder) gave them to Saddam Hussein during the Iraq-Iran war during
the 80's to use against the Ayatollah Khomeni after the Iran Hostage crisis,
since Iraq was our ally then. They made Saddam into who he was. When he
didn't tow the line he had to go.

B) One of Osama bin Laden's many brother's chairs an Oil Company in which
the Bush family hold majority stock in Kuwait. Former Secretary of State
George Schultz also is a major stockholder. (hence "Desert Storm")

C) Bill Clinton bombed terrorist outposts in Afghanistan and was soundly
condemned for doing so. The September 11, 2001 occurrence has since been
denounced by both Republicans (former NJ Governor Tom Kean in the forefront)
and Democrats alike.  It has been declared a failure on all security fronts;
CIA, FBI, INS etc. This happened during George W.'s watch whether or not
people want to acknowledge this.

To use this for any political gains is unconscionable; especially so to
those of us who have lost family, friends or had family or friends who were
there and survived (praise G-D) and who are still recovering from the
trauma.

One credit for George W.; he is a king fund raiser and has the funds to buy
the best advertising agencies and spin doctors in America and beyond who can
and do convince the American people of absolutely anything; including that
AMOCO 93 octane gasoline is superior to SUNOCO 93 octane or HESS 93 octane
which are all made to the exact same US Government standard.

He can do it! So be it.

Just my opinion.

Regards,

Wilma de Soto
