In the light of talk about the March for Women Lives I thought you might be interested in this event that we're doing both to clelbrate Erica Dhawan's (Penn freshman) inclusion in the Teen People 20 teens Who Will Change the World issue and to promote The March for Women's Lives -The National March Organizer, Manish Vaidya, will also be attending and speaking at the event.

Meet one of 20 Teens Who Will Change the World

Erica Dhawan
(Penn'07) speaking about activism and her work with pro-choice organizations Tuesday, March 16 at 4:30 pm

Every year, Teen People magazine has a feature in their April issue called "20 TEENS WHO WILL CHANGE THE WORLD." Read about real kids and your favorite stars taking stands and making a difference.

University of Pennsylvania freshman Erica Dhawan has been selected as one of the Teens for her activism work with the pro-choice movement. There is a special awards ceremony that will take place in NYC on Wednesday, March 10th, 2004 which will include other teen stars in the article such as singer Avril Lavigne, actress/singer Hilary Duff, rapper Lil Romeo, actor Frankie Nunez, and actress Ashlee Simpson.

Our Penn Bookstore event is on March 16 at 4:30PM in the Penn bookstore events section, 2nd floor. Erica Dhawan will be speaking  about activism as well as giving information about her work in recruiting youth to the Young People's All Access Contingent to the National March for Women's Lives. The National March Organizer, Manish Vaidya, will also be attending and speaking at the event. It will end with a magazine signing and details about the National March for Women's Lives.

Erica Dhawan (07) first became involved with pro-choice activism when she originated and chaired a city-wide Young Women's Leadership Conference. She then learned of Choice USA, and through their resources and training, dedicated herself to making a real improvement in women's access to reproductive healthcare. Dhawan has been central in a statewide anti-Global Gag Rule campaign, a Women of Color Initiative, and a campus-wide Choice Week to promote reproductive freedom. Now a Choice USA March Bus Route Organizer for Pennsylvania, organizing 300 students to the March for Women's Lives is her biggest challenge yet.

All events at the Penn Bookstore are free and open to the public.

A great selection of books is just the beginning...
