Title: Re: [UC] Habitat for Humanity
I use to volunteer regularly with Habitat when they were on the 4900 Block of West Stiles - both on my own and by bringing groups from the White Dog there.  I found it very satisfying (but I'm just to busy now).

My suggestions: If you want to bring a larger (15+) group there, especially on a Saturday, call waaaaay in advance to book it. I would regularly book 8 months out for the White Dog groups. If it's a smaller group or just a few folks, they can probably just slip you in somewhere. Or if it's during the week (Tues - Fri) they probably have lots of availability.

They are now at the 4200 Block of West Stiles St. - just off Belmont & Girard. Call them at 215-447-4639.

It's a good way to learn home repair/construction skills and meet some nice folks.

Subject: [UC] Habitat for Humanity

Hi all,

Kyle and I are trying to find a way to become more active in the community,
especially regarding volunteerism. I know a lot of people on this list are
very active in the community in all sorts of ways, and I'm wondering if
anyone participates in/knows about Habitat for Humanity. I've been meaning
to participate in a Habitat project for some time now (years, actually), and
I finally feel like getting off my duff and doing it.

We thought it might be nice if we could get a bunch of people (from this
list?) to pitch in, too. They're building on West Stiles Street, according
to the web site:

Would anyone else be interested in participating with us?

Thanks!

Christy
