Last night, the Garden Court Eatery on Pine next to Blockbuster at 48th was robbed, at around 11PM. The CCTV system behind the counter caught the event on tape, in very high quality, and I was able to watch through the front windows as the store employees and a cop went back and forth trying to get a good look at the two perps, who's faces weren't clear.
The perps timing was perfect, as they burst through the door precisely at the moment an employee was coming down behind the counter with a new cash drawer, about to enter the bulletproof plastic enclosure where the cashier stands. One guy vaults on one hand over the counter, landing on his feet right next to the surprised employee. He grabs the drawer tray, sets it on the counter, while a second guy who followed him in takes up position in front of the counter. The first guy grabs all the cash out of the tray and thrusts it at his partner who stuffs it into a bag. After a quick check under the register looking for something (maybe a "bank" for large bills?) the first guy vaults over the counter again and they were out the door. Total time in the store was well under 30 seconds, possibly only 15! I didn't see any weapons, and nobody was hurt.

about six months ago two of our friends on walnut and 43rd, right across
from the thriftway were robbed in the early morning while they were home,
but asleep. the thief took a purse, a bottle of orange soda from the fridge,
and some cigarettes. they got in by stacking items in the alley way until it
was high enough that they could climb in an un-barred kitchen window about
10 feet off the ground.

my understanding also is that stonely court has suffered repeated breakins
apparantly at least partly from previous tennants.
