Title: Re: [UC] Absentee Ballots? - mail delivery problems?
For a few weeks we had our mailman dropping the mail in our unlocked vestibule instead of unlocking the mailboxes for the 3 apartments and putting the mail in the respective boxes. We called the post office and spoke to the manager of our route and the situation was immediately fixed. (I was really surprised.)  Other problems (our mail was not forwarded correctly) was also met with the same prompt and sincere attention. (Again, I was surprised.) I don’t know who my husband spoke to but I do know that it took a while to get to a person who would take responsibility. If her remembers, I’ll pass it on.

Just to add another possibility to the list of reasons that absentee
ballots may not have arrived --

Our block has a chronic problem of mail delivered to the wrong
addresses; usually just the wrong house number within the block but
sometimes the wrong block (44xx Pine instead of 43xx Pine) or the right
house number but the wrong street name!

My husband caught up with the mail carrier one day earlier this week
when the mail she left at our house was all for another address -- her
response was a shrug and a smirk.  We later knocked on neighbors' doors
and returned the mail left at our house to the correct address, but were
unable to find any of the mail that should have come to our address.
Needless to say, we made a complaint to the post office but only go a
"we'll look into it" response.

So one more good reason to get to know your neighbors . . .

My brother, who happens to be a Republican and a Captain in the army
actually received two absentee ballots.

Not to jump to the conspiracy theory or anything, but things have been
stolen from my mail before such as the registration stickers for my car.

Also my roommate received a new social security card and the envelope
had
obviously been opened.  I don't think it would be farfetched at all for
people to do the same with absentee ballots.
