How about honoring the vision of the nineteenth century civic leaders
who had the prescience to secure the riverbank on both sides by naming
the two drives the East River Drive and the West River Drive? The nice
thing about those two names, which is lost when we start naming them for
people, is that the name of one implies the existence of the other.
