Dear fellow Listservers, A great radio station recently got taken off the air by clearchannel inc. (hereafter to be reffered to as THE MAN). That station was the esteemed, world renowned, award winning Y100fm. They provided a great mix of both national and local bands. They gave Philadelphia witty banter instead of the usual shock jock nonsense shoved down our throats by other stations. Perhaps most importantly they gave generously to charity over the years, when charity for its own sake had become a forgotten idea. (They were not doing it for the ratings, they did'nt need to.) After Clear ahem THE MAN toke them off air a group of former DJs and loyal fans decided to fight back. They created y100rocks.com in an attempt to save the station which so many philadelphians turned to when they wanted to here good, strike that great alt rock. So far the petition they created to bring back y100 has been endorsed by over 60,000 signatories, but the reason I come to you today on bended knee is to ask for your help in the quest to save this great station. It has been said that Variety is the spice of life. Sadly too many stations seem to have forgotten that; resorting to formulaic playlists in their quest for the almighty dollar. Y100 was not one of these stations. I know that many of you did not listen to y100, however it's demise is your concern as well, for if we stand together this day, and fight for the station which meant so much to alt music across the country, and especially, in philadelphia, perhaps we can send a message to the state, to the country, and to the world that we here in this city of brotherly love, will defend our music no matter what genre, era, or origin.
Please, sign this Petition to bring back y100, then tell three friends to. http://www.webpetitions.com/cgi-bin/print_petition.cgi?99499071 p.s.
