I will step in here to say that FOCP has submitted announcements of all meetings to the University City Review for the Almanac section. However, the paper has not always printed them (and they have no obligation to do so). The only way to ensure that the announcements of meetings would definitely appear in the paper was to take out an ad. Thus the ad.
