The dog was a god-send, but without that lovely creature's presence, bars on the window would have made this break-in impossible. sk

Nothing appears to have been taken--perhaps the would-be thief was greeted by our 200-lb. English Mastiff--but scary nonetheless. What's especially infuriating is that the abandoned lot adjacent to our house is, as usual, being completely neglected by the owner and is entirely overgrown with weeds, obscuring several of our windows and making them attractive to burglars. L&I was contacted 2 weeks ago, so they should have it all cleared up by, say, October.
