The corporate franchise for the proposed, Campus Inn,
is Hilton. This affiliation is being cited as the
primary reason that Penn and company refuse to
consider any changes to the proposed scale of the
their upscale hotel.

I anticipate UPenn will be using the Homewood Suites model:

http://homewoodsuites1.hilton.com/en_US/hw/hotel/PHLCAHW-Homewood-Suites-by-Hilton-Philadelphia-City-Avenue-Pennsylvania/index.do?brand_id=HW&brand_directory=/en/hw/&xch=97505423,X53WJBWFPFFLECSGBIW222Q

one is nearby at

4200A City Ave
Phila PA 19131
215-966-3000

At 13:45 11/12/07 a deluxe black Chevy Suburban was parked in front of it
illegally. Who cares if it was an unmarked PA State Trooper vehicle. Even with
no residences in the area, a valet/self-serv parking?lot across the street, and
a PCOM parking garage next door there is always intense competition for
on-street parking.

The hotel welcomes upscale to homeless as long as they can pay. More info
available about the Homewood Suites brand at
http://homewoodsuites.hilton.com/en/hw/brand/about.jhtml;jsessionid=AYCR

For those of you not familiar with the area it is on Stout Rd east of Belmont
and south of City (GSB Building, Chilli's)
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&country=US&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&addtohistory=&cat=&address=4200+City+Ave&city=Phila&state=PA&zipcode=

It is quite a building, run by nice people, and it dwarfs the three storey
Victorian's in the Hood.

In case it isn't apparent, I have more than a passing familiarity with the
building. Wonder why the 40th Street development team didn't tell you to go out
and have a look at what is a similar 12 storey app 120 room extended stay hotel
looks like?

Let me know if the links don't work; I'll let you know how to reach them.

Ciao,

Craig

Subject: [UC] Hilton affiliation used for demands

Dear list,

I want to clear up some more misinformation being
spewed on the list about the hotel project.

The corporate franchise for the proposed, Campus Inn,
is Hilton. This affiliation is being cited as the
primary reason that Penn and company refuse to
consider any changes to the proposed scale of the
their upscale hotel.

At the architectural committee of the PHC, Lussenhop
specifically, was testifying to city officials
publicly that because Hilton's corporate rules are so
specific and inflexible about amenities, room size,
number of units, etc., he was not able to consider
recommendations from the committee for alterations of
the size and scale of his 110 unit tower. (Folks, the
tower proposed is 110 units as testified before city
officials, and the upscale hotel will have a total of
115 units. The numbers 95-100 units reported for
West's parking analysis were not given at either of
the city proceedings)

The other reasons for Penn refusing any concessions as
the project is pushed through on a "tight schedule:"
2.Purchasing the property was a hardship for the
university, and 3. without 115 units the upscale
project would not be "economically viable."

Folks, Mr. West never had any point about "checking
facts" as the reason for all little people to shut up.
 West writes:

"Also, I don't think Lussenhop said anything about a
Hilton affiliation
of his project. I think this is something Glenn just
made up all by himself"

West simply wanted to win his UCD cronies argument by
calling me a liar. As Ray pointed out, even the first
exposure of this plan, (Oct.10, after secret backroom
deals had been transpiring for a long time) revealed
the Hilton affiliation in a public record West could
have easily checked before insinuating that I am a
liar.

Do folks see how spewing misinformation is used to
distract all of us from real issues? In fact, I
thoroughly check facts before presenting anything as
facts, while he makes them up constantly then gives
his numbers. This gang attacks us for asking
questions, sharing what we have learned, or stating
opinions; not because people on this list are making
up facts!

(By the way, please remember hotel chains are
constantly switching. All the crap about valet
parking, etc, can change without notice so let's
remember Lussenhop's promises over his coffee chats
are not facts or gaurantees. It is dishonest to make
assurances like valet parking to the neighborhood.)

I and others never wanted to have pissing matches with
barking cheese assholes like West who pretend that
cost analyzes and needs to consult traffic engineers
guides their nonsense. Of course I realize that he
has no credibility just UCD power, but nevertheless
feel compelled to correct the misinformation.

Does anyone remember the hell I took from the gang
when West posted to the list that UCD/FOCP had
conducted "17 public meetings" for the UCD redesign
policy of Clark Park. I had the death ray trained on
me for days because I asked "too much" for evidence as
lies were being spewed by this "community leader."

The public list is a place for community discussions
now that barking cheese is laying low. If we do not
stand up to West's and Lamond's attempts to cause
pissing contests to silence discussions, we will get
right back to bullshit and bullying by this gang.

Sincerely,

Glenn
Actually, 370 as of today. Impossible to tell how many
of those subscriber
addresses are still active.
