The latest thing with Gerri Ferraro¹s statement generates fear in the majority culture and if people of color respond to this, it will be perceived as black racism¹ and justify those same fears.
Never mind Hillary¹s political career was spawned from her marriage to Bill, his Governorship and Presidency through which she stayed and endured humiliation to finally realize her ambitions. Gerri Ferraro¹s Vice-Presidential 1984 candidacy with Walter Mondale sprang from Affirmative Action as a woman. I also remember quite clearly in 1984 Geraldine Ferraro saying then she was a Congresswoman from Queens, NY, which she quipped at the time as ³Archie Bunker¹s Neighborhood.² It wasn¹t until her husband¹s ties, (however tenuous), to Organized Crime were publicized that scuttled her chances. No matter for whom I may vote , I well remember Jesse Jackson¹s Presidential Candidacies and Rev. Al Sharpton¹s Presidential Candidacy. If what Ms. Ferraro said was true...they should have had the best chance of being President LONG before Obama¹s Presidential Candidacy. I pray Obama does not take the bait.
