About a year ago, in response to someone's request for an upholsterer,
I posted information about Michael's Antique Upholstery. I've just
learned that Michael has moved out of the South Street Antique Market
and opened his own shop just around the corner at 534 Bainbridge
Street. He's open only in the afternoon and usually stays open until 7
pm. But his schedule differs every day and it's best to call
beforehand. His number is 215-432-4413. His work is great; prices are
very reasonable; pick-up and delivery is no problem because he lives in
West Philadelphia; he's also a delightful person to know.
I found a nice oak chair at a neighborhood porch sale this past
weekend. It's so rickety that the seller said just take it for free.
Michael will tighten it when he recovers the seat, and if the seller
ever sees it redone, she'll never give such stuff away again.
