Friends of Clark Park at the Summer Membership Meeting Wednesday, July 16
The latest revitalization plans for Park 'A' (Baltimore to Chester Avenues) will be presented by the landscape architects. This will include a Q & A session. Also on the agenda is a sneak peek of this years "Shakespeare in the Park", as well as a talk on recycling in Clark Park. 7:00pm Reception, 7:30pm Meeting Griffith Hall, USP (43rd St. & former Kingsessing Ave.) I got the above from FOCP. I wanted clarification on what was meant by "the latest revitalization plans" -- since we've been seeing "master plans" (by some name or other) for, what, five years now. They've all been handed down from above (no, not that "Above," I mean from the people who have: both a) an anointed vision of what's best for us of the great unwashed, and b) a staff of people who depend for their job security on sucking up to people who give grant money for projects they don't understand). Anyway, the "The latest revitalization plans" refer to a set of alternate designs developed by a group that FOCP actually engaged. Apparently, there are several variations on an overall "urban park" theme. And the FOCP committee wants the folks who (get this, it's a really original idea) actually use the park to be in on the act. So, here's your chance. Also, as I understand it, the discussion of the "The latest revitalization plans" will be chaired by Matt Grubel, who hasn't already made up his mind and who therefore won't run one of those famous foregone conclusion forums starring the likes of UCD community managers, Penn Praxis, or the SHCA Board of Directors. Remember, you read it first here, on the popu-list, Al Krigman **************Get the scoop on last night's hottest shows and the live music scene in your area - Check out TourTracker.com!
