Curio Theatre will open its fourth season this week with a
world-premiere adaptation of Franz Kafka's 'The Trial' by Jared Reed, October 10 to November 2, 2008. This season is the first to be fully staged in the newly renovated Sanctuary space in the Calvary Church at 4740 Baltimore Avenue In Kafka's seminal work, his protagonist Josef K. wakes up one morning and is arrested and prosecuted for an unspecified crime, never knowing why. From this most simple premise, Kafka spins a nightmare like no other. Six members of Curio Theatre's growing ensemble company portray all the novel's characters in this surreal and maddening tragicomedy which spotlights bureaucracy and paranoia. This timeless piece has resounding political implications in this day and age. Kafka's lead character, K., is a soul adrift in a modern world lacking a moral compass. Curio's strong cast will feature Newton Buchanon, Liam Castellan, Aetna Gallagher, Josh Hitchens, Jennifer Summerfield, and Kevin Meehan. Performances will be 7 p.m., Thursday; 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10-Nov. 2. NOTE: WE ARE NOW PERFORMING ON SUNDAYS - this is a great way to round off Sunday Brunch at Abbraccio!
