Wipe your chin, Glenn. You're leaking a little sanctimony there.

Sing it with me, Mel and Mikey…
Mikey was a man who thought he was a woman
But he knew it wouldn’t last
Mikey left his brain in Tucson, Arizona
Cause barking cheese had no class
Bark back, bark back
Bark back to where you once belonged
Bark back, bark back
Bark back to where you once belonged
Sweet Van Helder dingdong thought he was an upscale
But he was a cheesy head
All the cheese heads ‘round him say he’s got it coming
But he barks it while he can
Cheese heads, cheese heads
Go bark it where you once belonged
Cheese heads, cheese heads
Go bark it where you once belonged
Go bark Van cheese head
Your gang is waiting for you
Wearing their high heel shoes
And their low neck sweaters
Get on home Van cheese head
Go bark, Go bark
Go bark it where you once belonged

Thanks Melani. I'm glad you see that responding to VanHelder's comment was troubling. Since some of us courageously stood firm against bullying and the group ad hominem, our open public list has become very civil and a great community asset.
While it's terrible that Penn has been engaging in censorship with it's UCneighbors, the bright spot was that the barking cheese gang slithered away.
I think we all chose to ignore VanHelder's ad hominem comments. But when you responded, I remembered the bad days when any productive discussion on the public list was always silenced by the group ad hominem.
I'm very glad that you understand why I drew attention to your response to VanHelder. Let's keep the public list, the civil welcoming community asset that it has become.
Best,
Glenn

Glenn makes a good point. I saw humor in sending a post saying that I agree with Al Krigman, but some readers might not have read it that way. Al himself received it graciously and sent me a follow-up email to especially invite me and my husband to his reception for Brett Mandel on March 3rd. I didn't mean to be insulting. I meant that someone whose skills and expertise are appreciated by people with very different priorities, like mine and Al's, is certainly worth considering for City Controller!
Go and meet him at Al's event on March 3rd, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Al's house, 4328 Spruce, and/or I'll see if I can host something later, if that date doesn't work for everyone. And feel free to send Brett campaign contributions. Either of us can give you info off list.
