Go, and take kids, to a true HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!
West Catholic High School at 4501 Chestnut (free parking enters from 46th
between Chestnut & Ludlow) has tickets for "THE WIZ"
Tonight Saturday, March 14, at 8 PM and
Tomorrow, Sunday March 15, at 4 PM
The teen actors do a great job. Amare's, (founder of DAHLAK), son Sam is a
wonderful "Wiz". The girls playing witch Glinda, (Kierstan Adams), and
Dorothy, (Mercedes Dressler), are ready for professional careers. The girl
who plays Toto, (Katie Davis) and the boys who play the Scarecrow, (Christophe
Waters), Tin Man, (our Michael Motyka) and Lion, (Jonathan Benjamin)
demonstrate hysterical physical comedy. The chorus is loaded with
cheerleaders, bringing an interesting stomp to the dance numbers. The house
band was charming and in synch. Local H.S. Senior Monica Supple is the Stage
Manager. Adults Jarrell Henderson, the director, and Cheryl Roebuck, music
help the kids achieve a fun and successful performance.
Letterman style list of reasons to go:
   10. Your kids may need a good High School and this is a chance to preview
the physical plant, and see student Art, Music & Theater displayed.
   9. Collect good ideas for next year's Halloween Costumes.
   8. Enjoy the performances, and be reminded that true talent is a gift that
often manifests at early ages.
   7. Share family fun appropriate for most ages.
Last night I took a 2nd grader a teen and a senior citizen.
All claimed they had a good time.
   6. Support, with a standing ovation, the many local kids, who spent the
past two months memorizing lines and learning dance steps.
   5. Support the Arts (Voice, Instrument, Theater, Set Decoration), as after
school alternatives to boredom or trouble.
   4. Enjoy a cheap date!
Tickets only $8 for Adults and $5.00 for Kids & Students.
Intermission treats include $1.00 drinks and 50 cent Soft Pretzels.
Park free or walk to the magnificent Theater-Auditorium.
(Enter from 46th through the Parking lot.)
   3. Close the understanding gap, for your kids, between
the Movie "High School Musical" and
the real deal, on a real stage, with sweat, grease paint and
skinned knees.
   2. See our 6'7" tall, H.S. Senior, Sing, Tap Dance, Orate and Act in ways
that amaze us, his parents.
   1. Enjoy a splendid 2 hours close at hand.

The second opportunity for local Theater is a step up to professional Drama.
