Didn't think much about the previous posts and erased them, until I
received the below post.

Many local companies are running door to door to salesman at this time of
year. Ask to see all their credentials and paperwork; if they're legit,
they'll show it. Most are selling pre-packaged systems and haven't the faintest
idea how to spec a system.

My boss was telling me today that he had someone show up on his door
step from "Phoenix Security" offering to do a free consult on his ADT
security because they're "often installed wrong" and they would help
consult on how to improve the security system. Thus, they were
offering to do this consult, provided of course that you let them
into the house to examine all the security umbilicals of the
alarm. He told them, "no." "OK, but we're here to help..." "If my
system was bad, why wouldn't I call ADT directly..." round and round
and eventually they left. He called ADT and asked "Who TF are these
guys from 'Phoenix Security' and why are they wandering around
here?" ADT told him, "We work with a Phoenix Security but they're in
Arizona, I don't know why you'd be hearing from them in Virginia..."

So he is highly suspicious that these are guys with a much more
advanced method of casing a house. In addition, there's always, the
"We're here to give you a free consult on your alarm system on your
house..." response, "I don't have one..." <fake guy making note>
"mind if I come in and help you figure out what you might need for
security in these times?..."

Now he's keeping an ear out to see if he 1) sees them again, or 2)
hears of any robberies in his neighborhood...

Ciao,

Craig
