Neighbors,
Have you noticed how our local corporate media has been backing the fake
values and processes espoused by Penn Praxis?
In this condescending Daily News editorial ( link below), with
suggestions on being a good citizen; the spin carefully emphasizes that
good citizens of Philadelphia should support the very institutions which
are the vanguard for neo-feudalism, (civic associations, the planning
commission, and Parks and Recreation are front and center in today's
installment).
These "recommendations" remind me of Bush era patriotism. A good
patriot uses credit cards to buy greasy "freedom fries" and pay civic
association dues. (Never does a good patriot ask important questions or
demand the principles of justice, honesty, transparency, and democracy.)
Neighbors, the civic engagement of Penn Praxis is very very dangerous,
as several of us have discussed in detail on this public list.
Specifically, this corporate model depends on REPLACING fundamental
processes for real civic engagement and real citizen participation.
People need to recognize that this model pretends that concentration of
power among civic association leaders is an acceptable replacement for
transparency and the rights of all citizens to be engaged in community
decisions!
The workshops being pushed by Praxis and applauded by corporate media
depend upon "teaching" these elite "community leaders."
What we serfs are not to know is that these handpicked leaders are to
learn the techniques of betrayal of neighbors and submission to
corporate power! These workshops for city planning, zoning, Parks and
Recreation, etc. are increasingly by INVITATION ONLY, just like the
Clark Park Partnership. These "workshops" are the screening mechanisms
for corporate power brokers and their government servants to appoint our
elite civic association lords, who will make all backroom deals on
behalf of our community and city!
If you regularly read the corporate newspapers (Inquirer and Daily
News), you've seen several of these editorials which promote these good
citizen fictions without ever questioning the processes or deficiencies,
as journalists were once expected to do. (They lead the cheers for the
Zoning workshops, etc., like the national media sold all of the
corporate wars and crimes against humanity to the majority of Americans.)
The Clark Park Partnership is a perfect example of the exact goal for
this feudalistic process! We saw this beginning ten years ago when
civic associations were required to give 3 names to have a
representative on a secret UCD board or face punishment and exclusion.
Most importantly, from the corporate perspective, is that 99% of us
common serfs are completely excluded, under this model, from all
decisions which impact our lives!!!! That is why these civic
association clubs attract the types of leaders that behave like our
Friends of Clark Park and alienate everyone else!
Opinion on civic volunteerism-(These broken insular clubs and this
corporate domination model are a primary cause of helplessness among
local residents. Example- Sitting through a UCD/ FOCP dog and pony
show rather than a town hall meeting is a complete waste of time, but
people are intimidated to stand against bullying and deception because
of fear of retaliation. We slink away angry and helpless in our own
communities)
Neighbors, it's time to wake up and fight back! Real citizens and
patriots will fight for transparency and inclusion of all, against each
and every professionally deceptive attempt to return this city and
country to feudalism. This duty for citizens is spelled out in our
cherished founding documents! Resistance is the only volunteerism that
can save us!
