Those of you, who paid attention to the sale of the postal lands,
already knew that the US taxpayers were screwed again via a "public
private partnership." The IRS pays Penn's corporate partner, Brandywine
Real Estate, the full original sale price of the land, approximately
every two years in rent.
The propaganda going around the world about Penn's park is extreme
bullshit. I just walked around Penn's expanded recreational facility
(aka Penn Park). From Walnut St, you will find the newest Penn parking
lot. Then, the new fenced off athletic fields are so obviously private
Penn fields, that I could almost feel handcuffs as I walked along the
narrow fenced pathways.
There is absolutely nothing which is inviting to common Philadelphians
to walk between these fences! The main pedestrian entrance is behind
the Palestra.
The entire design loudly proclaims that this is private property for the
exclusive use of Penn Recreation and sports. We are now supposed to
cheer that the children of the wealthy elite of the world have new
recreation fields and parking, while the US taxpayers were totally
robbed to pay for it! Calling this a park is an extremely bold lie.
