Mayor Nutter has appointed the chancellor of Rutgers University-Camden to the Philadelphia School Reform Commission.

Wendell E. Pritchett, a scholar in urban history who has experience in government policy, will fill one of the vacancies on the five member commission.

Pritchett resides in the city's University City neighborhood and taught law at the University of Pennsylvania law school between 2001-09 and was the associate dean of the law school between 2006 and 2008.

Since June of 2009, he has been the chief executive officer at Rutgers University-Camden.

There was no immediate word from the mayor's office when Pritchett would be sworn in.

Nutter's announcement came one day after Robert L. Archie Jr. and Johnny Irizarry resigned their seats.

Both were appointed by the mayor. The governor appoints three members of the SRC.
