This huffington post brings needed attention to prescripton drug deaths!  But he doesn't touch on the additional damage done to the health of survivors or the organ damage of drug interactions.

I wish he would have been more assertive in placing the blame on the American for-profit health care system and the ruthless pursuit of profits by drug corporations.

These companies routinely push off label prescription uses to physicians and consumers. They look at the fines as a cost of business that pales in comparison to the profits they make by their criminal actions (No executives ever go to jail).   As dismal as these numbers are, the true damage of corporate drug pushing is much greater in our for profit system.

Single payer health care is a human right recognized by the entire developed and developing world. It's a horrible myth that recognizing human rights and human needs will make doctors or anyone else, "lazy welfare queens."
