Rick,

This is just more evidence of the real reason ucneighbors was kicked off of the Penn system! This would be a clear violation of the university's policy on open expression and their rules on the use of electronic resources. Do you see how Cassidy's falsehood about me threatening lawsuit was directed to stir anger at me instead of his own embarrassing abuse of power??

I didn't get them kicked off. Kyle Cassidy, abused the Penn system from the first day of ucneighbors. Why did he wait so long to tell his fans that I "censored" his party, if it was actually true? (If you hadn't forwarded his pathetic attempt to direct anger at me, I wouldn't have known about this lie!)

For google, ucneighbors can be a private party. But this was always the problem with Penn's support establishing ucneighbors and growing their subscribers! Penn legitimized and promoted ucneighbors as an open public list serving this neighborhood adjacent to their campus. I know it was promoted by the School of Communication and probably their entire propaganda machine, like UCD. If it had always been a google group for Cassidy's gun fans would it still be around today?

Cassidy continues:

"Everybody else, I apologize for the disturbance in what has otherwise been a relatively fistfight free six years."

People here know that this public listserv completely changed after Cassidy, West, Siano, V, Lamond, etc. left with their various deceptions, group straw man strategies, and personal attacks! They were obviously always the source of civility problems on the public list! Cassidy needs to continue deceiving his fan base into believing that we fight on the public list, like the way they used to levy personal attacks at several of our subscribers, including me!

When they were here, it was like having a half dozen Rush Limbaugh's attacking anyone who disagreed with them about any aspect of the local neo-liberal agenda!

Rick, you need to keep this post, and make sure that all the people who you know from ucneighbors understand the problem here. They are part of Cassidy's gang, and not an open neighborhood list. Somebody could be on it for years, and the first time they bring up an important issue that goes against the neo-liberal agenda and plutocracy; they will be silenced!

I can't explain the university' s policy on open expression to their members. But someone should tell the truth to them that ucneighbors was set up in violation of university principles, and that Penn is not actually terrified of Glenn Moyer. Penn's written policy is good, but I'd like to see them live up to its high principles instead of taking silly bogus awards for them!

Power to the first amendment,
Glenn

Rick -

I can only assume that you're forwarding completely irrelevant posts from other mailing lists to UC Neighbors in order to see how much patience I have.

Now you know.

I view this mailing list as a party in my living room, people show up, they have fun they talk about things, and it's my job to make sure everybody's comfortable, that the punch bowl is filled and that nobody drives home drunk. Different people have different personalities and it's a host's job to be tolerant but ultimately people come to this party because they have certain expectations about the type of behavior they can expect will go on here. When one person continues to annoy the other guests, after repeated warnings, it's time for them to move on. There are other parties in the neighborhood that are more raucous than this one.

Here's what I'll do -- this is the website I used to create this mailing list: http://groups.google.com <http://groups.google.com/> -- you can create your own neighborhood mailing list and send me the URL. I'll post it here and anybody who wants can join and you can run it as you see fit.

Everybody else, I apologize for the disturbance in what has otherwise been a relatively fistfight free six years.
