Here is a news report about some important research shedding light on the
serious flaws in the way much research is done and used. This is not about the
obvious propaganda efforts done by special service districts and civic
associations to deceive. This relates to university based research which
guides policymakers.

Statistics and elite researchers have been elevated to a divine status, instead
of viewing statistics as limited tools. Consequently, statistical tools are
over used and statisticians rule over policymaking and the development of new
interventions.

The attacks against teachers and human service workers exemplify this
absurdity. The deification of statistics has also meant that practitioners and
philosophers do not design pilot interventions. Statisticians design new
interventions to support their data and sell their statistical packages and
evaluation companies, but they don't tend to care about or be good at actually
developing good interventions.

This line of research is an important beginning to fixing a serious and
fundamental problem for our society.
