"At least no one agrees with me yet"

Matt, I remember you once said, "it's a nice day."  That may have been the only occasion, but I found myself in complete agreement with you! But agreement is a complex linguistic  construct.

You democrats and republicans claim to believe in freedom and democracy; cleaner and safer streets; the teachings in the gospels according to Mathew, Mark, and Luke; justice; equality; and fair taxation.  But when I agree about the importance of those words, the democrats and republicans start claiming that even the leftist loonies, like Glenn Moyer, believe in torture, murder, oppression, stop and frisk, gentrification, corporate welfare, privatization, and American made predator drones for the revenge of Jesus.

That's because the lofty words always had a different purpose or linguistic value assigned by the democrats and republicans.  See how agreement gets complex really fast?

I know that people claim that democrat/republican leaders have different values, like they claim snowflakes are unique.  But since I look at policy directions, rather than which wing of the plutocracy party prefers call girls to boys in airport bathrooms, I always see a blizzard of bullshit rather than differences between the principles of political actors.  Frankly, for a democrat/republican, you seem quite amicable!

I have great hope that one day you will leave the duopoly and join me in the transformation party started by the great West Philly intellectual, Kathy Change!

I believe that if we promoted normal natural activities for hominids, like public nudity and public sex, the people would not be so afflicted with perversions, ignorance, and addictions to power.    Do you agree?  I know it's difficult for our tweet generation to contemplate philosophy and the deeper meanings of life, but promoting public sex and nudity seems like what they refer to as a no brainer!

It's a nice day,

Glenn

At least no one agrees with me yet.

I'm forced to agree with Bill on this one.  All of the departments and divisions of city government need to be accountable and responsible.  They need to fix their own mistakes without forcing people to seek "constituent services" just to be treated fairly and responsibly.  That system is demoralizing to citizens and sets up corruption and favoritism.  Those outside the inter-connections can never expect fairness from their own government.

I've also heard too often, "go to your council person" when a city agency gives you the blowoff and you need to go away feeling helpless and hopeless.

Let's rise up and give 'em hell Bill!

Glenn

So, from these three examples, the city owes me $112.38; my son owes nothing; and the lot's taxes are paid, so the city is overestimating what's due by $17,448.58 on just that one small vacant lot.  Multiply this by the many other mistakes the city has certainly made elsewhere, and what's due may be much less than the city's records report.

The answer to all of these problems is the same -- You expect the City Government to do the jobs they are paid to do?

"Everyone" knows that here in Philadelphia, that is NOT the way things are done.!

You are supposed to go to your City Council Person and have THEM fix the problem.

Of course, their ability to FIX the problem depends upon how much "grease" is applied to their re-election campaign.

City record-keeping inefficiencies BENEFIT the status-quo -- the politicians who keep their anointed offices by being able to FIX things.

We now see the latest manifestation of this problem -- the AVI is being postponed for yet another year !  Just so City Council can "study it" some more.

Yeah Right!
