The problem with the existing code is it DOES NOT RUN. Please try to explain why this is a preferable state of affairs to the simple patch posted. Put the patch as in and let it work for 99% of people, and revisit this later for the remaining 1%. Meanwhile, this is an obvious bug that would have been found if the script had been run ONCE prior to submitting the package.
