Well, on re-reading I see that you have refused EAP already. Then
probably my post is not really helpful. Unless you have tried to refuse
it somewhere else... :-)

I shows though that the configuration (with the different compressions)
can work on the setup you have mentioned. Also MPPE is enabled:

pppd[2809]: MPPE 128-bit stateless compression enabled
