I also had this problem, but I did the following: 1. Upgraded my host VirtualBox to the non-free version 2.1.2 from virtualbox.org (previously I was running 2.0.4-dfsg-0ubuntu1)
2. Used the "Install Guest Additions" command on the Devices menu (this didn't work for me before the upgrade) 3. Installed the Linux amd64 guest tools from the ISO 4.
