Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. CPU virtualization extensions have no mechanism to allow different pieces of virtualization software to share them [1]. Trying to load the kvm kernel module, which would happen if you installed the kvm package, will cause problems if other virtualization software is running on the same machine.
Since you indicated that kvm was installed when you saw these errors, I'm marking this bug as invalid. If you find that without the kvm module loaded python-vm-builder causes problems with VMBuilder, please reopen this bug and let us know.
