System: Acer Aspire 5738G On this model, the button to en-/disable the touchpad has moved from FN+F7 to an extra key. With this key on Ubuntu 9.04, you can switch the touchpad off - BUT NOT ON AGAIN. You need to watch you finges, so they don't accidently hit the touchpad button.
