Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: fast-user-switch-applet
I am one of those people who prefers to keep their IM status separate
from the FUSA.
I am signed onto an IM session.
I disabled show_presence_info in gconf-editor / apps / fast-user-switch-
applet.
The FUSA icon changed from the IM status icon back to the power icon,
and the status list was gone from FUSA.
Then I changed status in IM.
Expected: Nothing should happen with FUSA. Presence is disabled.
What actually happened: The FUSA icon switched to the status icon, even
though presence was disabled. The only way to get it to switch back to
the power icon was to either kill Pidgin, or load up gconf-editor and
then enabled, then disable, presence. As soon as I switch status again,
the icon changes again.
Clearly, some (dbus?) signal being sent by Pidgin on status change is
not being ignored by FUSA, even when presence has been disabled. This
results in a confusing and inconsistent interface.
** Affects: fast-user-switch-applet (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
