Can you reproduce this bug again?
gtkperf works fine on Debian and its postinst is really tiny and
shouldn't break anything:

If you can reproduce the bug, I'll investigate, if not I'd like to close
it.

Add and Remove programs stalled and a pop-up came up saying the indicator
applet stopped working and needs to reload the panel. Then System crash-reboot
