Just to let you know that I have successfully installed slimserver 6.5 on Kurobox HG with Fedora Core 5 running 2.6 kernel. Kurobox is up for the last month with no issue to speak off. There are very precise instructions how to install U-boot and FC5 on kurobox wiki. After you finish, recompiling perl modules is just a matter of a command that slimserver provides when you try to startup.
