Hi,

In an effort to reduce the noise generated by my music server I
recently tried moving my music database onto a known quiet external
2.5" USB hard drive. I set slimserver's root music folder to a folder
on the external drive and symlinked /usr/local/slimserver to another
one.

Unfortunately slimserver's mysqld processes are still accessing files
on the root volume which spins up the internal disk. This seems to
happen at least after each song. The accessed files have names like
"#sql_750_0.MYI". They aren't in /tmp/. Where are they so I can move
them? Or if that won't work, can I change where mysql puts them?
Thanks.

It will depend on how you installed SlimServer (.deb, .tar.gz, .rpm, etc)
and what distribution you use. On Debian those files are in
/var/cache/slimserver I believe.

They are integral to mysql, so don't delete them. (Index files to make reads faster)
You can move and symlink them though.

shouldn't, use the tape. \\\
