First, the "-xv' did the trick and got it to emerge correctly. (thanks, Stuart)
The only problem I had then was that the AAC codec wasn't compiled in, so it wouldn't play the AAC Plus stream. I download the binary ppc codecs from the mplayer site (thanks, Matthew). I also added the "aac" flag to make.conf file and re-emerged. Everything is working fine.
